This large-format mochila is handwoven by Kogi women of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta using natural fibers and traditional techniques. The bold black and white horizontal stripes reflect a central concept in Kogi cosmology: the balance between opposites—light and dark, sun and moon, male and female. Every line is intentional and symbolic, woven into the fabric of tradition.
Its dense, tight weave makes it highly durable and ideal for carrying a wide variety of items—from daily essentials to travel gear. The strong, wide strap ensures comfort even when worn for extended periods, whether over the shoulder or cross-body.
No two mochilas are exactly the same. Each is the result of more than a month of handweaving by a single artisan, making every piece a unique expression of ancestral knowledge and care.
Proceeds from this mochila go directly to the Kogi mothers who created it, supporting their families and contributing to community-led conservation and cultural preservation efforts in the sacred mountains of the Sierra Nevada.
More than just a bag, this is a symbol of harmony and tradition—woven by hand, shaped by spirit.
